Beyond basic play: Socialization at Club Pups

"Our dog loves Club Pups. She has been going 3 times a week since she was 16-weeks old, looks forward it, and has made so many friends. She has even tried to open the door by herself! The staff is wonderful and stable—the owners clearly take care of the team."

When forming playgroups, we look far beyond just size and breed. Our approach considers each dog’s unique personality, energy level, play style, age, and social comfort. This thoughtful matching process means your dog spends time with truly compatible playmates—not just dogs who happen to be similar in physical appearance.

"I have never had to use a puppy daycare until now. We have a 6 month old English cream golden, and we contacted Club Pups for daycare when my husband travels because he typically works from home. I LOVE this place! Piper loves going and she’s always happy to stay and doesn’t wanna leave - the staff and owners are just amazing! They treat every dog like their own."

How enrichment helps your dog thrive

Dogs who regularly experience appropriate social enrichment show numerous positive outcomes:

1

Improved social skills

Regular, positive interactions with a variety of dogs help develop better communication skills and appropriate play behaviors.
2

Reduced anxiety

Structured socializing in a supportive environment can help reduce social anxiety and build confidence in many dogs.
3

Better behavior at home

Dogs who receive appropriate mental and physical stimulation are typically calmer and show fewer problem behaviors at home.
4

Enhanced learning ability

Environmental enrichment has been shown to improve cognitive function and problem-solving skills in dogs.
5

Greater adaptability

Dogs who experience varied, positive social situations often become more adaptable to new environments and experiences.

Most dogs pass their temperament evaluation and can begin regular daycare immediately. The temperament evaluation fee of $38 applies to your first visit and can be applied toward a daycare package if purchased the same day. If you wish, your dog can stay for a full day of daycare following a successful temperament evaluation, with pickup between 4pm and 6:30pm.

Frequently asked questions

While most dogs benefit from some form of social interaction, the right type and amount vary greatly between individuals. During your dog's evaluation, we'll assess their comfort with social situations and provide honest feedback about whether our environment is a good fit for their personality and needs.

Not all dogs are social butterflies, and that's perfectly okay! For dogs who don't thrive in playgroups, we can provide alternative forms of enrichment, including one-on-one time with staff, quieter interactions with select compatible dogs, or activities that focus more on environmental exploration than social play.

While our program isn't designed as behavior modification for serious issues, many common behaviors like excessive energy, mild anxiety, or appropriate play skills can improve through consistent, structured enrichment. For dogs with significant behavioral concerns, we recommend working with a professional trainer or behaviorist, with whom we're happy to coordinate care.

Most dogs return home pleasantly tired but not exhausted after a day at Club Pups. Our balance of activity and rest prevents the overtired, overstimulated state that can occur with non-stop play. You'll likely notice your dog is content and relaxed at home after a day with us.

We consider multiple factors, including size, age, play style, energy level, and individual preferences. Groups are fluid and may change throughout the day or from visit to visit as we observe interactions and ensure each dog is having a positive experience.
