Club Pups Is Coming to Hilton Head Island

When Dustin and Laura Johnson opened Club Pups Lake Norman, they weren’t trying to build the biggest dog care facility in the region. They wanted to build the best one. Every dog in their own private suite. Small playgroups built around personality, not just whoever happened to be available. A day structured around how dogs are wired, with real rest built in alongside real play. Staff who learn each dog’s name, quirks, and preferences and remember them visit after visit.
That approach built something Lake Norman families kept coming back to. And it’s what’s bringing Club Pups to Hilton Head Island.
Dog daycare and boarding in Hilton Head, done differently
Chris and Emily Manley have been part of the Hilton Head community for three years. They have three kids, a dog named Stanley, and a clear-eyed view of what island pet parents have been working around when it comes to finding quality dog care close to home.
Hilton Head is a community built around lifestyle, family, outdoor living, and a genuine love for dogs. When Chris and Emily started talking to people here about what they were looking for in dog care, the answer was consistent. Pet parents weren’t just looking for somewhere to drop their dog off. They wanted a place that felt personal and thoughtfully run, with real communication, real structure, and a team that pays attention. For a lot of people, dog care isn’t a convenience. It’s peace of mind. That’s the gap Club Pups Hilton Head is built to fill.
What dog daycare and boarding at Club Pups Hilton Head will look like
The Hilton Head facility at 20 Hunter Rd follows the same standards Club Pups has held since 2018.
Every dog that comes to Club Pups for dog boarding on Hilton Head Island gets their own private suite for rest, whether they’re staying overnight or spending the day. No crates. That’s not the norm in most dog care facilities, where private suites are often reserved for boarding guests only. At Club Pups, it applies to every dog, every visit.
Playgroups are small and carefully matched. Staff consider each dog’s personality, energy level, play style, confidence, and age before placing them with playmates. A high-energy lab and a reserved older dog don’t belong in the same group just because they’re similar in size, and Club Pups doesn’t put them there. The goal isn’t to move dogs through the day in bulk. It’s to make sure each one lands in the right experience for them.
The daily schedule balances active play with genuine downtime, structured in cycles that reflect how dogs naturally spend their time when they’re comfortable. Dogs go home tired in the good way, not overwhelmed.
The facility itself was designed to feel like it belongs on the island. A mural by local artist Lindsay Spears greets you at the door, and the space reflects the same warmth and care that goes into the day-to-day.
The setting is distinctly Hilton Head, and the team has thought carefully about what that means for how dogs spend their days here, given the climate and the mix of residents and visitors the island sees year-round. The facility is built to serve families who live here full-time and pet parents who bring their dogs along on vacation.
